Afet eğitimlerinin afetlere dirençli toplum oluşturulmasında büyük önemi vardır. Afet eğitimleri ile insanların afetler hakkındaki bilgi düzeyleri, farkındalıkları ve ilgileri artırılır. Afet eğitimi alan insanlar afetlere daha iyi ve daha fazla hazırlanırlar ve bu sayede afetlerden daha iyi korunurlar. Afet eğitimi sayesinde afete daha etkili müdahale edilir ve kayıplar azaltılır.
